The Trust realised that to accomplish its initiatives and objective there was need to form an institute, which is what we now have as; Lindnet Institute of Technology.
Objectives of the Trust
The main objects of the Trust are:
- To promote growth and development in ICT, especially Cyber Security & AI awareness in Zimbabwe
- Bridging the ICT gap between different generations
- To develop educational programs and initiatives for inter-generational equity
- To participate and promote measures that ensure that women, the younger and older generations are equally up to date with ICT developments
- Advocating for educational programs crafted for the beneficiaries, with specific attention to women
The Trust exists to empower people in Zimbabwe through ICT, technology and skills development, with a special focus on cyber security and AI.
Formation of Lindnet Institute of Technology
The history of Lindnet Institute of Technology began in 2018, when Linda Chakwizira, the only female Zimbabwean instructor for Cisco at the time, was inspired to train and support women by promoting fair access to education.
After establishing Lindnet Technologies Trust, the institute was formed and initially named Lindnet ICT Academy. Over the years, guided by innovative leadership, the academy evolved into Lindnet Institute of Technology (LIT). This change was driven by the need to integrate ICT across all areas of learning and study.
Today, the institute has grown into a technology-focused centre offering programmes not only in ICT, but across a wider range of business, technology and technical fields. With the support of many partners, Lindnet Institute of Technology continues to expand and strengthen its impact.
